Rooms are decorated with artistic Japanese potteryAmsterdam, October 2009 - Hotel Okura Amsterdam has just finished renovating its Meerman, Sperwer and Otter/Esperance meeting rooms. The Sperwer Room has been converted into a board room. The Meerman Rooms and the Otter/Esperance Rooms were also made over completely. To celebrate the completion of the renovations, the hotel will be offering a free round of aperitifs with every booking of the Otter/Esperance Room for a party until January 31, 2010.
All these rooms are situated on the hotel's conference floor and feature natural daylight. Thanks to built-in beamers and screens, they are ideal for video conferencing and meetings as well as receptions and festive get-togethers. The renovation of the Sperwer Room has resulted in an additional board room next to the existing one.
The Otter/Esperance Rooms offer a view of the Amstel channel and the Japanese garden. They are decorated with eighteen pieces of Japanese Bizen pottery. Each one of these unglazed pieces is a unique, hand-made work of art. This kind of art object originated in the 12th century. Bizen ware is from the village of Bizen Yaki, near Kobe, in the Japanese province of Okayama.
The room is not only suitable for meetings, but also perfect for festive gatherings such as dinners and weddings. Because Hotel Okura Amsterdam is an official wedding location, weddings can be held entirely at the hotel.
