Hotel Okura Amsterdam Renovates Smaller Meeting Rooms

Rooms are decorated with artistic Japanese potteryAmsterdam, October 2009 - Hotel Okura Amsterdam has just finished renovating its Meerman, Sperwer and Otter/Esperance meeting rooms. The Sperwer Room has been converted into a board room. The Meerman Rooms and the Otter/Esperance Rooms were also made over completely. To celebrate the completion of the renovations, the hotel will be offering a free round of aperitifs with every booking of the Otter/Esperance Room for a party until January 31, 2010.

Traditional Japanese 3-star Chef from Tokyo Visits Yamazato

For two weeks only the specialties of another Michelin-star-awarded traditional Japanese restaurant can be savoured in The Netherlands.
From November 2 through November 15, Hotel Okura Amsterdam's one-star traditional Japanese restaurant Yamazato will be organising the culinary event ‘Tokyo Fair 2009'. During this period Hiroyuki Kanda, Executive Chef & Owner of Tokyo's famous Kanda Restaurant, will be our guest for a few days. Hiroyuki Kanda's restaurant ‘Kanda' has been awarded three Michelin stars in recognition of his exceptional cuisine. Like the Okura's Yamazato Restaurant, the Kanda Restaurant also presents traditional Japanese kaiseki cuisine - the authentic haute cuisine of Japan. This is the first time that a three-star Japanese Chef visits the Netherlands.

Hotel Okura Amsterdam Opens ‘Taste of Okura’ Culinary Center

In a new cooking studio, guests can prepare the Okura's chefs' dishes, while the sommeliers explain how to pair wine and sake with the food.
Amsterdam, October 2009 - In December 2009, Hotel Okura Amsterdam will be celebrating the festive opening of ‘Taste of Okura', a culinary center where people can learn how to prepare the Okura's chefs' dishes themselves. In addition, the sommeliers will explain how to pair wine and sake with the food. Workshops held there will be based on the recipes of the Okura's chefs. ‘Taste of Okura' is situated on the hotel's lowest floor and provided with the latest high-tech Miele equipment. In addition to a kitchen, the culinary center also has a Wine Room, a shop and a trendy lounge where the self-made food can be enjoyed.
